Basic Settings of Manual Mode and associated Effects

by citifari on June 27th, 2011

Switching from the automatic to semi-automatic and then to the manual mode requires that you understand the effects of the settings in your camera.

The making of a picture is based on 3 settings. While composing the picture and deciding what you would like to include or exclude in the picture as well as how you want your subject to relate to its environment, you will have to determine how to set your ISOs, Aperture (F number) and Shutter Speed. The three settings have a relationship with the amount (quantity) of light that impacts your sensor and ultimately how bright is your picture. But these three settings also affect how (quality) the light gets to the sensor and can change an image in its entirety.

I have been to New York many times, but never went out at night to photograph. Citifari changed my shooting habits. Gildo my guide was frendly and helpful. He knew his way around N Y and was happy to share information about places and photo ideas. The tour was great, I would do another tour next time I'm in N Y . Thanks for a fun evening.

I just did the SOHO safari tour with Gildo. Great experience. He really knows SOHO and photography. I learned how to take a better shot esthetically and technically. Learning while having fun is the best. I highly recommend this tour.

I did the New York by Night Photo Tour, and was very satisfied. My guide, Gildo, was fun, knowledgeable, helpful and made the tour become a fantastic experience. I have already recommended this tour to people back home, and everybody was impressed by the photos I took.
Thank you Gildo for a fun and educational evening in New York.

I did the Soho tour with Michael and was extremely satisfied. Not only Michael is an experienced photographer (with a specific accent in architecture) but also a professional guide (one of NY 's museums) and also very friendly, as well as an excellent teacher. On top of that he knows the area perfectly, having lived there for years, so he would have lot's of anecdotes to tell. Last but not least, he knows how to adapt his tour to the interests of the clients as well as seizing opportunities, if they arise during the walk, like visiting an ancient house invited by the owner himself! Thank you. I would recommend this kind of tour to anyone going to NY.

Central Park was brought to life by CIRO and brilliant guide and help with all things photography. Most enjoyable time in NY, easy going and learned lots but also a nice genuine guy. I would highly recommend Ciro's tour to anyone. Thanks again. B
